When Emma went upstairs, she noticed the bathroom door was shut.
She was completely exhausted. She tossed her bag onto the floor and collapsed onto the soft bed.
She had been waiting for Charlotte to bring dinner.
But before she knew it, sleep had claimed her.
Even though she was hungry.
Even though she had been scared out of her mind just moments ago.
Liam had just stepped out of the bathroom when he saw Charlotte enter with a tray of food.
"Sir... is the missus asleep? What should I do with this? She said she was hungry..."
Charlotte stood there, holding the tray, unsure where to put it.
"Leave it. Let her rest."
Liam glanced at the time. It was almost midnight. Why would she need to eat now?
It was better for her to rest early and eat again in the morning.
Liam gently moved her body to the center of the bed and carefully pulled the blanket over her.
The night was as dark as ink, and the only sound in the bedroom was Emma's steady breathing.
Thinking back, everything that had happened recently was enough to give Liam a headache.
He had set up the trap himself, but in the end, it seemed like he had been caught in it too.
Now, he was stuck in a dilemma.
Liam lay on his side, close to her.
He stared at her innocent face, lost in deep thought.
Ever since Elijah had appeared,
the conflict between them seemed to grow bigger and bigger, like an unsolvable knot lying between them.
The bracelet?
And that beautiful dress?
Liam felt a surge of anger just thinking about it.
Fortunately, no matter what kind of woman she was, they were just putting on an act.
It was hard to imagine what it would be like if they were actually together.
Right now, Liam had only one goal: to find the evidence as soon as possible after the wedding and finish the mission assigned by the organization.
Only then could his life return to peace.
In a quiet café.
"Emma, how are the wedding preparations going? I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to check on you." Olivia lowered her head and took a big sip of coffee, a hint of resentment in her voice.
"You know I don't have to prepare anything. I have such a capable husband. I just have to put on my wedding dress and walk down the red carpet, right?"
When other people got married, they were as happy as if they were drinking honey.
But when it was her turn, why did it feel so miserable?
Emma propped her chin on her hands and said weakly, "First of all, Olivia, you have to be my bridesmaid, or I'll kill you."
"Give me a big red envelope, and I'll be your bridesmaid. I'll even get married for you." Olivia's thoughts were very optimistic.
"Well... why don't you go instead? I'll give you my salary card and my husband too?"
Emma just couldn't understand why so many girls liked a man like Liam.
What was so good about him?
Handsome? Could that be eaten?
Rich? But he wouldn't give you everything.
And he had that old-fashioned arrogance, proud and delicate. She thought it was a huge headache.
"Do you like him? Emma, I can see you're reluctant to talk about it, but we, the masses, can see it clearly. He treats you well... there's nothing more to say."
Olivia thought back to the past bit by bit. "Last time, when Isabella framed you, who stood up to help you settle it? And you told me yourself, that time in the hotel when you were almost humiliated by Noah... who saved you from deep trouble? Just the day before yesterday, when you were bullied by a drunk hooligan, wasn't it Liam who kicked them away and beat them until they couldn't stand on their own? Emma, you've really found a treasure marrying such an indomitable hero."
Olivia said a lot, and her spit almost sprayed all over Emma's face.
After hearing this, Emma just wanted to say silently that her heart was bitter, but she couldn't say it.
It was true, that was right.
However, these simple-minded people only saw the gentle side of Liam, how good he was to her, leaving nothing to be desired.
They didn't know, at home... how Liam took advantage of her and ate her tofu.
Besides, every time Liam got angry, he would start with his hands and almost use his feet.
Only Emma knew this.
Liam was darker and more treacherous than the devil. He was the real bastard!
She was going to marry such a villain! Could Emma not feel bitter in her heart?
"Olivia... let me tell you this, Liam is different from what we see. In fact, he's not gentle and considerate at all. He's vicious to me at home too. Do you believe that?"
As soon as Emma said this, Olivia was stunned for a few seconds.
Then she looked her up and down and squinted, "I... believe it. What's wrong, Emma? Isn't he gentle with you at home? Is he violent?"
"Well... that is, he has nothing to do with gentleness, you know?" Emma seemed to have found a confidant, almost moved to tears.
Hearing the meaning of Emma's words,
Olivia couldn't help but think of some aspects.
Did Emma mean the life of a married couple?
"I think it's normal, Emma. Men at that time don't like to be gentle. They're generally very manly, like it intense. Does Liam also like S and M? Oh my God, isn't that too heavy?" When Olivia said this, because she was too excited, her voice unconsciously rose a little.
The guests next to them looked at them several times.
Two girls, talking about this kind of problem in public, and so loudly! Did they have to be so high-profile?
How could those single dogs be embarrassed?
"Pfft..." Emma almost spat out blood!
What did she mean by "at that time"?
What kind of time?
And what the hell was S and M?
What kind of friend did she make?
What was in her head?
And Olivia had never talked about her boyfriend?
Emma didn't believe it at first.
"Olivia, you must be wrong. I just wanted to tell you that Liam is not gentle! How could you think so far away? A girl's family, can we have some bottom line?"
Emma was thin-skinned. When she said that, her face turned red.
"Ah? Don't you mean that? I thought..." Olivia was also embarrassed at the moment, but on second thought, wasn't it normal?
