Chapter 120

Emma took one look at the dress and felt no desire to wear it.

Since it had already been delivered to her home, she figured it was better to just stash it at the bottom of her closet.

Just then, Liam appeared behind her without her noticing. He stood there, watching her with cold eyes.

Charlotte noticed Emma's lack of excitement and was a bit surprised. "Ma'am, why do you look like that? Aren't you overjoyed?"

"Oh, Charlotte, please put it away for me. I'll wear it another time." Emma snapped back to reality and said lightly.

"But this dress is so beautiful. It would be perfect for today, don't you think, sir?" Charlotte said, shifting her gaze to the man behind Emma.

Liam sneered inwardly. She was really putting on a good act in front of him.

Even though he was a man, Liam could guarantee that any woman would fall in love with this dress.

Emma's indifferent expression only made him more suspicious. When Charlotte asked, he was curious to see how long Emma could keep up the charade.

"Yes, I agree with Charlotte. This dress suits you perfectly. You should wear it today." Liam echoed Charlotte's words.

He would know soon enough whether she was pretending or not.

If she refused to wear the dress just to play hard to get, then as soon as he nodded, she would be eager to put it on, wouldn't she?

Hearing Liam say that, Emma's mind went blank for a moment.

To be honest, she really didn't want to wear it. But Liam thought it looked good too?

Hadn't she made up her mind last night to behave well and not upset him?

Now that he had spoken, it wouldn't be good for her to refuse again.

So she looked up and stared seriously at Liam. "Do you really think so, Liam? Elijah showed me this dress yesterday. I thought it over and over but didn't accept it. I never expected her to send it to my home today."

As God was her witness, everything Emma said was true.

But the more she explained, the more suspicious it sounded to Liam.

Yesterday?

So, Emma had met Elijah yesterday?

Liam couldn't help but laugh bitterly at himself.

A sharp glint flashed in his eyes as he said coldly, "Well, I think it's beautiful too. Wear it..."

"Do you know who sent this dress, Liam? You can't imagine it. You used to hate her, but now..."

Liam's behavior was so abnormal that she had to question it.

Hearing what she said, Liam could guess who it was with his eyes closed.

Besides, who else could it be other than Elijah Clark?

"Of course, I know who sent it. But since someone gave it to you sincerely, you shouldn't refuse." Liam tried his best to suppress the anger surging inside him and said calmly.

"Oh, you're right. I'll go change now..."

Since Liam thought it was good, she would just wear it.

As soon as she finished speaking, Emma happily ran into the dressing room.

Before Charlotte went downstairs, she secretly glanced at Liam and noticed that his expression had darkened.

It wasn't like this just now, sir. What's wrong?

Charlotte didn't think much about it and closed the door behind her as she left.

Liam walked into the bathroom and clenched his fists tightly.

Sure enough, she still wanted to wear it.

...

Because she had changed her dress, by the time Emma went downstairs for breakfast, the whole family had already gathered.

Henry, Benjamin, and Liam were already seated at the table, drinking their porridge.

Perhaps because today was a special day, the whole house was filled with a festive atmosphere.

Emma, holding up her skirt, walked down the stairs step by step.

The servants in the house, as well as Benjamin, were completely stunned.

The long, light pink dress had a shoulder-baring design and a large bow on the back that served as a belt, accentuating Emma's graceful figure.

Today, she had put on a little light makeup. Her fair face, slender eyebrows, and red lips made her look like a fairy who had just stepped out of a painting.

Benjamin just glanced at her casually and was captivated by his sister-in-law.

So he turned his head to look at his older brother and found that Liam was also mesmerized. He found it a bit amusing and joked, "Brother, you see her every night, but you're still stunned? Did you give her this dress? It's got some taste, only a little worse than me..."

He had to admit that this dress really suited Emma perfectly. The shoulders, waist, and even the bust were cut flawlessly.

Liam didn't say a word. He lowered his head and took a sip of milk.

Emma walked over to him softly. As usual, she politely said, "Good morning, Dad."

"Well, Emma. Today is your first time participating in such an important event. I hope you stay close to Liam and don't make any mistakes." After all this time, Henry's attitude towards her was still lukewarm.

It seemed that his only request to Emma was not to cause trouble.

He didn't say anything else.

"I understand, Dad. You can rest assured." Emma said with a smile.

"Sister-in-law! That's a beautiful dress. It seems you are the only one worthy of the title of Mrs. Williams." Benjamin's unruly voice drifted over, his face full of mischief and a wicked smile.

If he looked closely, this sister-in-law was really something. It seemed his older brother was enjoying quite a bit of happiness.

Every day he slept with such a beautiful wife, why was his face still so grumpy?

Benjamin couldn't figure it out. What was he dissatisfied with?

Anyway, as soon as she heard him speak, she knew there would be no good words!

What did he mean by that?

She was Mrs. Williams now, without a doubt!

"Thank you, Benjamin. You're not allowed to run around today. You should stay with your brother. I heard you're going to work at the company in a few days. You should get to know the clients and business partners well."

Actually, Emma had a good impression of Benjamin. Even though he liked to play around and did things casually, that was just his nature.

"Yes, my most beautiful sister-in-law." Benjamin said, and even freed his right hand to give a standard salute.

Emma was amused by him for a moment and gave him a stern look. She wasn't angry, but she didn't say anything more.

But Henry couldn't help saying, "You've never been a soldier, and you still know how to salute? When I asked you to join the army, you refused. Now look at you. You're not doing well at all. Learn from your brother!"

It was a bit harsh, but wasn't that what a father would say to his son?
