Sophia Sullivan gave a slight nod.
She could wait.
This report required Ethan Sullivan's signature and seal.
The office was silent.
Sophia sat on the sofa.
She glanced down at her phone.
Messages from Ryan Lawrence popped up one after another.
Olivia Laurent's gaze swept over her.
Olivia suddenly stood up.
She approached Sophia.
"Which department are you from?" Olivia asked with a smile. "I didn't know Ethan had such a beautiful employee by his side."
Her tone was envious.
"Things have changed so much here," Olivia continued. "The last time I visited was right after high school graduation."
Sophia remained composed.
She responded politely with a few words.
Olivia narrowed her eyes.
She tapped her forehead lightly.
"I forgot to introduce myself," Olivia said. "I'm Olivia Laurent, Ethan's childhood sweetheart."
Sophia looked up.
"Sophia Sullivan."
Olivia glanced at her employee badge.
"Sophia, what a lovely name," Olivia said with a bright smile. "I feel like we clicked the moment I saw you."
Her laughter echoed through the office.
Olivia pointed at the report in Sophia's arms.
She reached out to take it.
"You can go ahead with your work, Miss Sullivan," Olivia said kindly. "I'll hand this to Ethan for you."
Sophia saw right through her act.
"Thank you for the offer," Sophia replied calmly. "But I need to deliver this report personally."
Their eyes met.
Olivia lowered her gaze.
Her nails tapped lightly against the desk.
"Fine," Olivia said. "We'll wait together then."
Sophia gave a perfunctory smile.
She turned her attention back to her phone.
The message sent successfully.
A notification chimed.
Ryan's rabbit avatar blinked.
[Sis, The Decagon has pinpointed the location on Greenland's streets.]
A new message appeared.
Sophia's expression turned serious.
Olivia noticed and giggled.
"You're so focused, Miss Sullivan," Olivia said playfully. "Do you have a boyfriend?"
Her tone turned coy.
"Unlike me—my family keeps pushing me to finalize the wedding with Ethan."
Olivia batted her lashes.
"Am I talking too much?"
Sophia finished typing her reply.
Her expression smoothed back into neutrality.
"Not at all," Sophia said distantly. "But you're mistaken, Miss Laurent. I don't have a boyfriend."
Olivia froze.
Her nail unconsciously scraped off a rhinestone.
"...Then let me introduce someone to you?" Olivia offered sweetly. "As an apology."
The office door suddenly swung open.
Ethan's tall figure appeared.
Sophia lifted her gaze.
Her lips curved into a faint, knowing smile.
"Sure."
Ethan's eyes landed on Olivia.
His expression darkened instantly.
"Get out of my chair."
Olivia stiffened.
She stood up with exaggerated nonchalance.
"Alright, alright," Olivia huffed. "I didn't know you were so particular about your chair."
Ethan's voice was ice.
"What did you just say to Miss Sullivan?"
The air turned frigid.
Olivia suppressed a shiver.
She pouted.
"Ethan, I wasn't going to eat her."
She glanced at him.
"I offered to introduce her to a boyfriend," Olivia said. "And she agreed."
A boyfriend?
She agreed?
The atmosphere froze solid.
Ethan's gaze turned sharp as a blade.
A dangerous aura radiated from him.
