Isabella Robinson gave a slight nod.
Her gaze lingered on Sophia Sullivan.
"You missed quite a few competitions during those three years with the Winstons."
Her tone carried regret.
"There's a contestant named Zephyr who's won three consecutive championships."
Isabella suddenly remembered something.
She sighed.
"Too bad he always wears a mask and covers up completely."
"Such a mystery that piques curiosity."
After saying this, Isabella affectionately wrapped an arm around Sophia.
"But our Ningning is a top-tier expert."
"How could she possibly lose to anyone?"
Sophia smiled faintly.
"I'll do my best."
It had been three years since she last participated in a racing competition.
Her training had grown rusty.
Now, out of nowhere, this three-time champion Zephyr appeared.
Today's race was bound to be thrilling.
The competition was about to begin.
Sophia headed into the inner area to change into her gear.
Just as she stepped out of the locker room, she ran into someone she'd rather not see.
"Sophia Sullivan, how dare you show your face in front of me—"
Liam Winston's brows furrowed deeply.
His eyes bore into her.
The red racing suit accentuated her poised figure.
Her high ponytail swayed lightly with each step.
She looked bold and striking.
A far cry from the person she used to be.
For a moment, Liam was stunned.
Then his face darkened.
The Winston household had been in chaos lately.
His father's two illegitimate sons were eyeing his position.
If not for his parents keeping each other in check,
he would have lost his heir status long ago.
Chloe Evans, feeling sorry for him,
had signed him up for this event to take his mind off things.
Who would have thought they'd run into Sophia here?
Talk about bad luck.
Chloe feigned innocence.
"Surely you knew Liam loves racing competitions, right, sis?"
"What a coincidence that you're here too."
Her words dripped with insinuations that Sophia was still clinging to the past.
Sophia didn’t take the bait.
"I was about to say the same thing."
"Why do you two follow me around like persistent shadows?"
With people like this, it was best to give them a taste of their own medicine.
Liam predictably exploded.
"Me chasing you? In your dreams!"
His face paled with anger.
"No matter what tricks you use to get my attention,"
"they only disgust me."
Sophia let out a light laugh.
She remembered the first year of their marriage.
Whenever Liam was in a bad mood, he'd go off to do extreme sports.
She had wanted to accompany him to lift his spirits,
only to be met with scorn.
He'd forced her to stay home, cooking and cleaning,
forbidding her from appearing in public.
Those three years had suffocated her.
Now that the debt was repaid,
the past had vanished like smoke.
Sophia's voice was laced with sarcasm.
"Hasn’t Mr. Winston Sr. knocked some sense into you yet?"
"If your brain's no good, you might as well feed it to the dogs."
Isabella chimed in.
"Exactly. Take a good look in the mirror."
"A toad like you has no business dreaming about a swan."
She curled her lip in disdain.
