Mr. Winston Sr.'s face darkened like storm clouds. His voice was icy. "What do you mean, 'the only one'? I only said I could live without a grandson, but Sophia is my one and only granddaughter!"
Mrs. Winston trembled with rage. He was clearly siding with an outsider.
She opened her mouth to argue, but the old man shoved her aside.
"I haven't even settled accounts with you for what you've done!"
Chaos erupted instantly.
Liam Winston watched his parents scuffle, his ears ringing.
He couldn’t believe his grandfather would treat him this way.
Those words practically declared him unworthy of being the heir.
What humiliated him more was that Sophia Sullivan and Ethan Sullivan witnessed everything.
He bit his lip until it hurt, his heart aching as if slashed by a knife.
When he met Ethan’s indifferent gaze, Liam felt mocked.
His eyes reddened.
"It's you... Sophia! You planned all this! You came here today just to scheme against me!"
Sophia looked at him like he was an idiot. "What scheme?"
She narrowed her eyes, studying Liam.
The man clenched his fists, teetering on the edge of collapse.
Liam, always proud, had learned of his mother's infidelity and his grandfather's rejection in a single day. Now, he was unraveling.
But none of this concerned Sophia.
Once, she might have pitied him. Now, only disgust remained.
Liam suddenly chuckled darkly.
"Sophia, you knew about Tristan all along. Why didn’t you tell me three years ago? You were just waiting to laugh at me today!"
Madness stripped away reason.
Liam would rather believe everything was a lie than accept his mother’s betrayal.
"And that video Chloe got—you must have told Tristan to give it to her! Just to humiliate me!"
His words exposed his idiocy.
Sophia had no response.
Explaining to a madman would only drag her down to his level.
Liam didn’t care for an answer anyway. Lost in agony, he muttered to himself.
"You must have told Tristan to seduce my mother... and tricked Chloe too..."
He spoke as if consoling himself—the only way to stomach the truth.
At the mention of "Chloe," Mrs. Winston's face twisted.
"So it was you, you little witch, stirring up trouble!"
She slapped Chloe hard across the face.
A sharp crack echoed.
Chloe staggered, her cheek swelling instantly.
Mrs. Winston wasn’t done. She looked ready to kill.
"No wonder you egged Liam on to make a scene at the birthday banquet! You planned this all along!"
