Chapter 22

Liam Winston's voice cut through the air like a whip.

He watched helplessly as workers tore the wallpaper from the walls in large sheets.

The carefully selected wallpaper was rolled up carelessly.

He stormed into the living room.

The once-luxurious villa now lay in ruins.

The leather sofa had vanished.

The handwoven carpets were gone.

Even the crystal chandelier had been dismantled from the ceiling.

Only bare walls remained.

Liam's face darkened with barely contained fury.

He turned to summon the security team.

These were highly paid professionals.

How could they allow outsiders to destroy his home like this?

A man in a tailored suit stepped forward.

He bowed respectfully.

"Sir, we're acting under Ms. Sullivan's instructions."

He produced a stack of legal documents.

"Everything is being done under surveillance."

Liam was momentarily speechless.

He hadn't expected Sophia Sullivan to go this far.

Chloe Evans gently touched his arm.

Her voice was honeyed with false concern.

"Don't be angry, Liam."

"It's understandable that your ex-wife is upset."

"After all, you were once married."

She lowered her lashes demurely.

"Sophia grew up with nothing."

"Even with the 3 million USD settlement..."

Her tone turned pitying.

"...she's used to luxury now."

"Going back to poverty must be hard for her."

Liam frowned deeply.

Chloe pressed on, fanning the flames.

"Be generous, Liam."

"Let her take what she needs."

She hid a smirk.

Once she became the lady of this house,

she'd replace every single item anyway.

She refused to use another woman's castoffs.

After a long silence, Liam spoke.

"I actually felt guilty before."

His voice dripped with contempt.

"But now I see how petty she is."

"Born poor, stayed small-minded."

His expression hardened.

"I won't shed a tear no matter how badly she suffers."

The lead worker gave him a strange look.

A phone rang.

The man answered on speakerphone.

"Ms. Sullivan, we've completed the inventory."

Sophia's cool voice filled the room.

"Proceed with the auction as planned."

Chloe couldn't suppress a triumphant smile.

"So your ex-wife really is—"

Sophia's next words froze her mid-sentence.

"Donate all auction proceeds to charity."

Her voice was steel.

"Destroy anything that can't be sold."

"Leave nothing behind."

The worker nodded.

"Yes, ma'am."

His gaze flickered to Chloe's stunned face.

The other workers murmured in admiration.

"That blue and white porcelain was an antique."

"Worth a fortune too."

One worker shook his head.

"She said she wants no reminders of this place."

Each word stabbed Chloe like a needle.

Her earlier taunts about Sophia's poverty

now echoed back as brutal humiliation.
